"The Right Hook – From the Ring
to the Culture War" is a select collection of Matt Barber’s greatest
hits: incisive and deeply thoughtful culture war
commentaries he’s penned over the past few years. The book also recounts the
fascinating series of events that launched Matt as one of America’s rising
conservative stars. Barber – a former undefeated professional boxer and current
Liberty Counsel attorney – pulls no punches. His thought provoking though often
hysterically funny writing style tends to delight those who agree and infuriate
those who do not. Liberals beware; you just may be the next conservative
convert after reading “The Right Hook.” (Foreword
by David Limbaugh.)
What Top Conservative Leaders are Saying
“Devout left-wing ideologues have
for decades moved progressively closer to their goal of erasing our nation’s
Judeo-Christian founding and remaking America in their own secular humanist
self-image. But Matt Barber is fighting back. The Right Hook is a must
read for anyone who seeks to preserve America’s Godly heritage.” – Former
Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich
“Our country is at a crossroads.
Now, more than ever, we need strong voices to stem the tide of liberalism that
is washing away America’s Judeo-Christian heritage. Matt Barber is one of those
voices and The Right Hook provides conservatives with an important call
to action.” – Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee
“Matt Barber needs to be heard by
every American. He is a man who’s faith drives him to fight for the truth and
that makes him the kind of leader people should follow.” – Congressman Tom
Delay
“We are thankful that God picked
Matt Barber out of the boxing ring and placed him in the national ring to go
head to head with the adversaries of our country. We found this book to be
interesting and very worthwhile to read as we all fight the battle for the soul
of America.” – Tim and Beverly LaHaye
“The boxer and the politico are
brothers-in-arms – both are in a violent struggle to win. One uses his fists-and
the other-persuasion. Matt Barber has been in “the ring” and the political
ring. Defending our culture takes courage and Barber has what it takes. Do
you?” – Jonathan Garthwaite, Editor in Chief, Townhall.com
“The forces of moral relativism have
openly declared war on our Judeo-Christian culture. If this isn’t worth saving,
what is? But to save it you have to know how to fight for it, which Matt Barber
is doing so effectively. This book is a must-read for conservatives.” – Brent
Bozell, Founder and President of the Media Research Center.
“Liberals are finding out the hard way that they’ve stepped into the ring with a heavyweight. Matt Barber shows no quarter on the canvas of opinion writing, although he’d rather rehabilitate his victims than abandon them. He also knows how to make people laugh, punctuating serious points with politically incorrect humor. Matt is always worth reading, and those who cherish American freedom and traditional values will come away from The Right Hook: From the Ring to the Culture War glad that someone as talented, focused and Biblically literate as Matt is on their side. Liberals? Well, they might want to see their dentists about getting a plastic guard for all those times they’ll be gritting their teeth.” – Robert Knight, Senior Writer/Correspondent for Coral Ridge Ministries, a Senior Fellow at the American Civil Rights Union, and the author of Fighting for America’s Soul (Coral Ridge 2009).
“It turns out that ‘change we can
believe in’ is but a tired retread of ‘change’ we can’t afford. From radical
homosexual extremism to a pro-abortion culture of death, our unique and
honorable American way of life is under attack from spiritual and political
forces. Matt Barber is on the front lines in countering these forces that
inevitably lead to a loss of life and liberty. Every freedom loving American
should read Right Hook.” – Mathew D. Staver, Founder and
Chairman of Liberty Counsel and Dean and Professor of Law at Liberty University
School of Law.
The Right Hook
Matt Barber approaches politics and
the culture war with the intensity he demonstrated as an undefeated prize
fighter. He is not a go-along-to-get-along type of guy. He recognizes that our
culture and the political system are under assault and he intends to fight for
them. And, as anyone privy to his excellent writings can attest, he’s got the
right hook to make the difference.
As Barber explains in these pages,
he entered this different fight arena when he got fired for penning an article
in which he had the audacity to defy the inflexible laws of political
correctness, by defending traditional marriage. Since then he has had many
other “bouts” on many other important social issues, in which he has unapologetically
articulated positions consistent with his conservative worldview.
Barber is an expert on all matters
political and cultural and he writes with directness and flare. He employs his
analytical insight and eye for detail to unmask the deceptions regularly
practiced by our political foes in Washington D.C. He has called out Barack
Obama on his “moral clarity deficit,” he has decried as a bad idea — then, and
now — gays in the military, and exposed some of the most heinous aspects of
Obamacare, refusing to accept at face value the Democrats’ disingenuous denial
that it very well could lead to taxpayer funded abortions.
Barber goes beyond the black and
white text of the proposed legislation to supply the necessary context. And it
is a context that would horrify any freedom loving, morally grounded American.
As secular forces are fighting to knock down Christian expression from the public square, and take away our constitutional free speech rights, Matt Barber is ready to answer the bell. He’s stepping back into the ring and he’s not pulling any punches.
